FLASH MEMORY MP3 PLAYER REVIEW
CREATIVE LABS
Flash Memory MP3 Player - Creative Labs 128 MB NOMAD IIc MP3 Player Creative Labs 128 MB NOMAD IIc MP3 Player -Great For The Money - I just got mine a few days ago. I was impressed with the design and size of the player. The headphones sound great, but aren't adjustable and don't fit all that well. The best thing about the player is the sound quality! This player can hang up there with the expensive players when it comes to that. It puts my old Rio One to shame. The software isn't all that bad, but if you don't want to use it this player will work with just about everything. Even Windows Media Player. The belt clip is not as good as it should be, but it's removable so you can install a different one or use a mp3 player case. I have only had it a few days so I can't say how the durability is, but so far I'm happy I purchased this model. It has good features and doesn't cost a fortune. - GO NOW!!!
Flash Memory MP3 Player Review - Creative Labs NOMAD MuVo TX FM 256MB MP3 Player (DAP-TD0004) Creative Labs NOMAD MuVo TX FM 256MB MP3 Player (DAP-TD0004) - Nice sound, Good FM, Voice Recording Ssucks...Big Time - Voice recording is the ONLY reason this one rated a 4. I agree with an earlier reviewer about the low sound volume even at max setting. But overall the sound quality is great (for me the volume needs to be around 35 (out of 40) to sound good). FM is great. But as I said in the title - the voice recording is really bad - for two reasons. First - the quality is just bad. Second - the mic is not that good in that it does not pick up sound too well that is even a short distance away. Sort of spoils it for me - I bought it to record lectures. The armband is really neat - works well. Battery life seems to be pretty good, as advertised. - GO NOW!!!
Flash Memory MP3 Player Review - Creative Labs Muvo NX 256 MB MP3 Player Creative Labs Muvo NX 256 MB MP3 Player - AWESOME Portable Player - As an owner of an Archos 30GB jukebox, which I love, I needed something that I could take a CDs worth of music with me while I work out. I bought this player and it is THE best thing I have ever taken with me. I can take about 2-3 CDs worth of music, put it on my arm while I run, exercise, etc. and it works beautifully. All the buttons are easy to reach on my arm. The menu is EASY to use, it doesn't skip (flash memory), and haven't tested out the battery lifve, but using a AAA battery, it's no big deal to just put another one in. This is the best portable I have used, I now carry it EVERYWHERE I go as it can be used as a portable drive as well. I love it. - GO NOW!!!
Flash Memory MP3 Player Review - Creative Labs Nomad MUVO NX 128 MB USB Flash Drive and MP3 Player Creative Labs Nomad MUVO NX 128 MB USB Flash Drive and MP3 Player - A Happy Balance - I've owned the device for 5 mo now, and it's done a beautiful job as a "walkman" and a usb storage device (ppt files, etc.). having read every review on amazon, i was a bit concerned about the 'lasting quality' of the device, but i haven't had any trouble, even after having dropped it a few times. the factory headphs are undeniably bad; i bought a pair of sennheiser mx500s as a replacement. the irivers obviously have a solid reputation when it comes to these "compact mp3" players, but i couldn't deal with having another connecting cable (from mp3 player->computer) on my desk. the built-in plug on the muvo and its size just makes it an all around convenient little gadget. to echo a previous reviewer, if you're concerned about the 'order' of your uploaded songs, use the "copy to device" function in windows media player. oh and for those that are just doing +/-30-min workouts, 128mb is more than enough storage space. Finally, if you're really paranoid about warranties, etc. look into your credit card options - visa (platinum) said it would double the manufacturer's warranty, so that took my muvo from 3->6 mos. if that's still not enough for you, then look into buying an iriver from best buy and purchasing the additional 1-2yr coverage direct through best buy. - GO NOW!!!
Flash Memory MP3 Player Review - Creative Labs Rhomba 128 MB MP3 Player Creative Labs Rhomba 128 MB MP3 Player - Very good Rhomba mp3 player!!!! - I chose this over any other gadget as it is a good make, has lots of features, great sound quality, small and light, and i can use it in my lessons and wont get noticed as it is so small. The sound quality is brilliant, same for the lcd screen and is an all round good mp3 player, I was scared off the apple ipod, as it is so expensive, quite large, and a lot of people that have bought the ipod have complained about the battery power, and some brake just outside there warrenty, also if the ipod gets nicked or falls on the floor and brakes youve just lost a lot of money!!! - GO NOW!!!
Flash Memory MP3 Player Review - Creative Labs 128 MB Nomad Muvo MP3 Player Creative Labs 128 MB Nomad Muvo MP3 Player - It's A Great Little MP3 Player - It is very easy to get started with this MP3 Player. In just a few minutes after taking it out of the box you are able to listen to music with it. The controls are simple and no cords are needed. It plugs directly into any PC/Mac USB Port which is great for cross platform file sharing. The software installation is simple and the drag ‘n’ drop functionality makes it very simple to add new files. The increase in memory from its' predecessory make this MP3 Player that much more appealing. - GO NOW!!!
DIGITALWAY
Flash Memory MP3 Player Review - Digitalway MPIO DMK 128 MB MP3 Player Digitalway MPIO DMK 128 MB MP3 Player - WMA Screwup Solved! - I bought my MPIO yesterday and couldn't be happier with it. However, thanks to the above reviews, I was under the impression that I wouldn't be able to listen to any WMA files with my new MPIO. THIS IS NOT TRUE. First, using the CD-ROM enclosed with your MPIO, you must select the "Install Windows Media Plugin" from the main menu. If you install this plugin, you will not need to install MPIO Manager 2.0. Next, once you have connected your MPIO to your PC through the included USB cable, enter Windows Media Player and select the action "Copy to CD or Device" (This feature is on Windows XP, I assume it's included with older versions of WMP). You then have the option of selecting a drive to copy the MP3 and WMA files to. Usually this will be a CD burner. Simply change it (using the dropdown menu) to "Internal Memory"... it should have the MPIO logo beside it. Then click "Copy" and you are able to download WMA files to your MPIO. Just thought I'd clear up the misunderstanding regarding WMA files on the MPIO. - GO NOW!!!
Flash Memory MP3 Player Review - Digitalway MPIO DMK 256 MB MP3 Player Digitalway MPIO DMK 256 MB MP3 Player - Great Player, Obtuse Manual - I received my player just a few days ago and have enjoyed using it tremendously. Once you load your songs, it's simple to use and the sound is quite good. That being said, actually getting the songs from your computer (or CD, etc.) to the player requires some intuitive computer wizardy. The included manual provides the same amount of assistance in this area as, say, reading the rules of golf will help lower your score. It's just not a useful item. Still, I recommend the player to anyone who is comfortable enough with the idea of an MP3 player - just be prepared to spend 30-45 minutes learning how to navigate. The included software is quite good, and once you get the hang of it, it's very easy. Downloading from the 'net works fine, too. Playback has been great through running, working out, and mountain biking. Finally, I have 42 songs on my playlist, with room for probably another 15-20. Compare that to how many CD's you'd need to carry! - GO NOW!!!
Flash Memory MP3 Player Review - Digitalway MPIO FL100 128 MB MP3 Player Digitalway MPIO FL100 128 MB MP3 Player - Good Stuff - This stuff is great! Yes, the sound is good, it looks good, the mini-metal case is very nice...! I wanted a MP3 that was small for sports, had recording function and external memory capability. So I bought the FL 100 with 128MB + 512MB (memory) and had the best deal, I belive. The recording function works great too. - GO NOW!!!
Flash Memory MP3 Player Review - Digitalway MPIO FL100 256 MB MP3 Player Digitalway MPIO FL100 256 MB MP3 Player - A Great MP3 Player At A Great Price! - I just bought the mpio FL 100 256mb to replace my Rio S10. I was quite happy with the S10 although it only had 64mb memory, no radio and a few idiosyncracies such as not being able to delete songs directly from the player (instead of having to use music manager software). I am very pleased with my purchase. The fl100 is just plain sexy with its mirrored face plate. the controls are small but seem to work well. the multi-function buttons enable the player to have a lot of control with a minimum of size. The battery life is probably in the 8-10 hour range for me. My Rio got nearly 25 hours with a single AA battery, the fl100 uses a AAA battery thus not as much juice available, but still respectable I think. The fl100 is so light and compact in size you can carry it virtually anywhere. the included leather case with belt clip is quite nice but has one MAJOR flaw. there is a clear plastic side panel which completely covers the volume control and the menu button. the result is that the volume can change on you when the player is in the case...either full volume or no volume. this can be circumvented by carefully stretching the case a little bit after you've put the player in it and then using the lock switch once you've set your volume. It's too bad that digitalway didn't design the case better because that is really the only major flaw with the unit. The manual is so poorly written it is laughable. I can't even understand what it is saying much of the time. I normally don't even read manuals but this player is a bit complex to figure out without some assistance from a manual. Even now, I'm not sure what a couple features are supposed to do because I can't discern a difference whether they are enabled or not. for instance there is a system setting for "fade in/fade out". I would assume that if enabled this is supposed to gradually fade in and out of the song that is currently playing...but I do not notice a difference is this is enabled or not. Also the function of the 'study mode" is to actually enable you speed up or slow down the material that you are listening to, sort of like a tempo control. It's particularly useful for listening to the spoken word. I like this player a lot. I wanted a player that had decent battery life, FM radio, good amount of built-in storage but also expandable memory. The fl100 has all this and more. I had considered the iriver players because of their small size and apparent durability, but the non-expandability of them turned me off. It does take a bit of time and effort to learn how to use all the features of the fl100. I had a really hard time figuring out how to create folders of music and navigate between them. Another thing is that Mac users can use iTunes for music management but creating folders on the mp3 player is not intuitive. I would rate the durability of this unit as very good in the case and average out of the case. It is very light, but if dropped could get dented pretty easily. The Rio S10 on the other hand has a padded protective clam shell case which is excellent for durability and the player itself is plastic which would help protect it in falls I think. Motto is, don't drop it. - GO NOW!!!
GATEWAY
Flash Memory MP3 Player Review - Gateway DMP-110 64 MB Digital Music MP3 Player Gateway DMP-110 64 MB Digital Music MP3 Player - It Is Great But... - It is great, It is compact, It is discret, The equalizer is magnific, The voice recording has a good sensibility, In general its sound is good (not great, I would like more volumen but I am conform because it was not expensive), The better in its clase. It comes with the neck lance and the belt clip (It is pretty). You can check the technical specificatons and pay attention with the output power. It is very difficult to find a good micro small FM radio, This item has not a good reception. I did not have problem with the usb tranference. I did not have problems with the jostick. I bought this one only because I do not have more money righ now. I was thinking too in buy the iriver version but the 64MB is discontinued. I am thinking about to sell it and to buy other with more memory, and maybe you would do the same, in this case if you already have the money to buy a better do it. It eat somes bateries (maybe a good recomandation is to buy an mp3 player with AA Batery instead a AAA batery. - GO NOW!!!
IOMEGA
Flash Memory MP3 Player Review - Iomega 31311 HipZip Digital Audio Player (with Two 40 MB PocketZip Disks) [MP3 AUDIO] Iomega 31311 HipZip Digital Audio Player (with Two 40 MB PocketZip Disks) [MP3 AUDIO] - Excellent Travelling Companion - For me, not an MP3 person, the HipZip is really slick. You MP3 aficionados might find it clunky, but it's great if you don't have access to a CD burner. I also like having extra memory, no matter how little, for my laptop when I'm on the road. It's a little thicker than an MP3 player, and you can hear the PocketZip disk drive, but it barely vibrates and I cannot make it skip, which makes it superior to a CD walkman if you are going to use it while exercising. I installed the software on both sides of my partition (Windows Me and 2000). Both loaded it easily, and the software runs equally well on Me and 2000. For transferring CDs, you have to temporarily store the files on the hard drive. I find the Microsoft software more convenient than the Iomega, at least for transferring tunes from CDs. Using the Windows WMA format instead of MP3, I can store twenty songs or a full CD on a 40 MB disk. The problem is disks are eight bucks each when bought in a pkg of ten. That's almost as much as a prerecorded CD, but you can write over it countless times. Hooked directly to my speakers it sounds as good as a CD. I could tweak it if I fiddled more with the equalizer. Used in conjunction with noise reduction headphones, it is an ideal companion on a long, noisy flight. - GO NOW!!!
IAUDIO
Flash Memory MP3 Player Review - iAUDIO CW200 128 MB MP3 Player with FM Radio and Voice Recorder iAUDIO CW200 128 MB MP3 Player with FM Radio and Voice Recorder - Great Little MP3 Player - The CW200 is a great MP3 player for use when exercising, working around the house, and such. Very durable - have dropped it several times (in its case) with no problem. Sound quality is very good, although I'm not usually listening to it in a critical environment. The recording feature works well. It did a surprisingly good job of recording a choir rehearsal in a church sanctuary. Recordings are created in SC4 format which is easily converted to WAV format with the supplied software. My only minor complaint is the quality of the tuner. On weak stations it will occasionally lose the station and it is necessary to tune to another station and back to reacquire. - GO NOW!!!
Flash Memory MP3 Player Review - iAUDIO CW300-256MB (MX400) MP3 Player w/FM & Voice Recorder iAUDIO CW300-256MB (MX400) MP3 Player w/FM & Voice Recorder - WOW!!! I Absolutely LOVE This Little Gem! - My brand new CW300 arrived today from Jetaudio. Right from the start it was a winner! The packaging was befitting a $200 item. The quick start manual had me up and running with Windows XP in minutes. The software was extremely easy to use, so I had my MP3's loaded in less than 20 minutes. The manual was written in English, by someone who speaks English (no translated garbage, if you know what I mean....). Buttons are multi-function, so it took a few minutes to preset my radio stations, but oh my gosh, the FM receiption is crystal clear. My old FM receiver headset is in the trash! The Sennheiser ear buds sound just fantastic with this player, and I've never been a fan of this type of listening device. The belt clip case looks like it will be just fine. Don't hesitate to purchase this little number -- you won't be disappointed! - GO NOW!!!
IRIVER
Flash Memory MP3 Player - iRiver iHP 140 40 GB MP3 Jukebox iRiver iHP 140 40 GB MP3 Jukebox - After 2 Months Of Research, The iHP-140 Won My Money! - Just purchased the iHP-140 from Amazon.com recently, after 2+ months of researching for the BEST mp3 player out there for the money. I won't go into very technical details with this review. POSITIVE ASPECTS.. FIRST..It has the LONGEST BATTERY LIFE out there. 16 hours based on "normal" playback. Takes 3 hours to charge from a COMPLETELY discharged state. (Much less time if battery still partially charged.) After I researched iPod and ALL others, this was the longest battery life you could get. Has an internal rechargable battery with no memory effect.
SECOND...Some people say that there is a long "learning curve" to this player. Actually, if you can move files in Windows Explorer, you can drag and drop files directly. AND with the USB 2.0, its a flash to drop files... virtually NO waiting. I've become the queen of copy and paste my files to this player. THIRD...You can use it as an extra, external Hard Drive for storing or exchanging files. (a big plus if you need extra HD space) FOURTH...Has a GREAT FM Radio! No, you can't record directly from the FM Radio to the player, but...I haven't done that in years, so this is an UNimportant aspect. FIFTH....Recording operations are numerous..YOU CAN RECORD FROM OTHER EXTERNAL AUDIO SOURCES. Just plug in something (like someone's CD player) into the optical jack. OR.. I can use the EXTERNAL MICROPHONE to the LINE IN jack. It can be a DIGITAL VOICE recorder (just talk into the thing while recording voice, just like a separate DVR unit). OH... it comes with all the stuff to record from these devices. SIXTH...Compare the price to the 40GB iPOD???? OUCH!! iHP-140 sure does win over that one. SEVENTH...Media player compatability is the BEST. It is not just pigeon-held to only MP3 types of media. It is compatable with SEVERAL file types (see product specs). AND the firmware is upgradeable! So future upgrades are a big plus. This unit will still be great in the future too. EIGHTH...you can plug this puppy into a car radio, via a "purchased separately" cassette thing. AND there are many more positive aspects to this unit if you like to customize your music, playback options, equalizer, sound, etc. NEGATIVES........ *Cost can be an issue for some people. I paid a grand total of $400.00 even. CHEAPEST anywhere! All on Amazon.com!!! Trust me, I've looked EVERYWHERE, (ebay, used, new, retail, wholesale etc.) Amazon had it on sale, with FREE shipping, and $30.00 off for opening up a credit line with them. So, got a great deal. *The earbud earphones are uncomfortable for me. So they supply a special adapter jack for other types of earphones if the ones you like don't fit the units earphone jack. *The unit is slightly heavy, I just weighed it on a postage scale, with the case its about 8 - 10 ounces. Not for joggers, but bikers and for regular people, its great. FINALLY..I just wanted a digital player because my cd's were constantly getting lost, scratched or "borrowed" from my teenager. I just wanted to listen to music without the hassels of changing a cd, or carrying around a cd player. With the 1200 hours of music I can store on this, I'll never have to search for a cd again! AND ... it won't be outdated in 6 months! I wanted to have this be the first, and possibly last digital music player I would ever need. - GO NOW!!!
Flash Memory MP3 Player - iRiver iFP-190T 256 MB Digital Audio Player iRiver iFP-190T 256 MB Digital Audio Player - iRiver Of Dreams - If you are looking for a MP3 player, there is no reason to look any further than iRiver's iFP-190T 256 MB Digital Audio Player. The unit has a lot going for it: small size, lightweight but durable, impressive battery life, more than enough MB than could possibly be listened to in one session, and most importantly great sound quality. I bought the 190T for working out at the gym - and unfortunately for me more people have asked me about the MP3 player than muscles! With all the clunky CD players being toted around the gym floor, it is no wonder that this piece of electronic equipment, the size of a pack of chewing gum, has attracted all the attention - and how many of those CD players are holding more than 60 songs? The software to transfer files from your PC is easy to use and understand. With surface space being a premium on the unit, it takes a little trial-and-error to master the multiple uses of the four major buttons - but the basics (turning on/off, shuffle, repeat, switching between MP3/radio) are quite easy to pick up. Personally, I have had no issues with the earbuds and usually wear the unit with the provided necklace. If the activity is high/not conducive for around-the-neck wear, the player easily slips into a pocket (an armband holder is offered as a separate accessory on the company website, a recommended visit also for the latest software and firmware). The FM-tuner is a great addition, while the voice recorder may be another added feature of interest (not something I was personally looking for). My one tiny qualm is the unexpected ease one can record from the FM tuner (the button to switch between MP3/FM mode is the same one to record from the radio). Why this is even a feature I am not sure - has anyone recorded from the radio since the 1970s? Overall a great gadget - give yourself a reason to go out and buy one! - GO NOW!!!

MADWAVES
Flash Memory MP3 Player - Madwaves MP-5-US MadPlayer Madwaves MP-5-US MadPlayer - Absolutely "BLEW" My Mind - THIS HAS GOT TO BE THE BEST PRODUCT I HAVE EVER BOUGHT. I LAY OUT LOTS OF LYRICS BUT HAVE NEVER BEEN ABLE TO USE ANY OF THE PC MUSIC CREATION TOOLS VERY WELL. WITH THE MADPLAYER I CREATE MY OWN BEATS, BASS LINES, AND LEADS INSTANTLY AND THEN LAY MY VOICE RIGHT IN... I AM SO AMAZED BY THIS PRODUCT. INITIALLY I DID NOT KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT AND WAS VERY SKEPTICAL OF WHAT IT WAS AND WHAT THE QUALITY OF THE MUSIC WOULD BE. AFTER GETTING IT AND PALYING AROUND FOR A FEW DAYS I AM JUST BLOWN AWAY BY ITS POWER. I BROUGHT IT TO A FRIEND WHO IS A MUSICIAN AND PRODUCER OF SOME LOCAL UNDERGROUND HIP HOP, HE PLUGGED IT INTO HIS SOUND SYSTEM IN THE STUDIO AND COULD NOT BELIEVE THE SOUND QUALITY AND EASY OF USE. IN A MATTER OF MINUTES WE LAYED OUT A NICE SERIES OF TRACKS TO USE ON A CD WE RIPPED. I HAVE HAD THIS PRODUCT FOR TWO WEEKS NOW AND KEEP GETTING MORE AND MORE HOOKED ON IT. I FIND THAT I BRING IT EVERYWHERE I GO AND JUST PLAY AROUND ALL THE TIME CREATING LOTS OF GREAT MUSIC. ON THING THAT WORKS GREAT IS TO USE JUNGLE OR DRUMnBASS STYLES AND SLOW THEM DOWN AND USE THEM TO LAY RAP VOCALS OVER. I ALSO FIND THAT I USE THE FM RADIO A LOT TO SAMPLE OFF OF... THE SAMPLES ARE THEN MIXED WITH THE MUSIC IN REAL TIME. QUALITY AND FEEL OF THE MADPLAYER ARE GREAT, I ESPECIALLY LIKE THE SILKY FEEL. MY ONLY COMPLAINT INITIALLY WAS THAT I WANTED TO SAVE SAMPLES IN REALTIME IN THE SONG AS I CREATED A SONG... I FOUND OUT YESTERDAY AFTER VISITING THE MADPLAYER WEBSITE THAT THE COMPANY IS RELEASING A FREE UPGRADE NEXT WEEK THAT WILL LET ME DO THAT... I ALSO DO QUITE A LOT OF VIDEO EDITING AND HAVE BEEN USING THE MADPLAYER TO GENERATE BACKING TRACKS FOR THE VIDEOS... SINCE WHAT COMES OUT OF THE MADPLAYER IS COPYWRITE FREE "ACCORDING TO THE COMPANY" I AM FREELY USING THE MUSIC AND MAKING SOME GREAT VIDEOS AND DVD'S FOR MY FRIENDS. IN SUMMARY, THIS HAS GOT TO BE THE MOST PERSONALLY EMPOWERING I HAVE EVER SEEN. ITS HAS GIVEN ME CONFIDENCE TO CREAT MUSIC, SOMETHING THAT I DID NOT HAVE MUCH OF A FEW WEEKS AGO..... - GO NOW!!!

I wish they made a belt holder or something like that. OVERALL, pretty nice MP3 Player. - GO NOW!!!
Flash Memory MP3 Player -Nike Sport 128 MB MP3 Player Nike Sport 128 MB MP3 Player -Novice To Digital Music Players Gives Thumbs Up - I've been wanting to get into the MP3 music craze for awhile, and use it while jogging, since CD Players take to much attention away from the run. I read some reviews and decided to buy this Nike/Phillips unit since 128MB was plenety enough space for a 1+ hour jog. I agree with some of the others about Musicmatch. Don't bother installing it on your windows PC. If your PC is at all current, then you already have Windows Media Player, which has the capability to convert any WAV file to a WMA file (not sure about conversion of MP3. Again, I'm a novice to all this). I'm told WMA is better soundwise than MP3 format. So just load the CD and get the USB drivers loaded, but remember to do a complete format(not just a quickformat) of the Player. Go ahead and whip out your CDs and convert 'em to WMA. Then once you have enough WMA files to your liking, just click copy to device. Find the files on your HD and drag them into the Playlist side, and click Copy. The Musicmatch program included is so old and not worth the hassle, and after laying out cash for the player, I don't know about you, but I'm not interested in updating (and paying extra for) a program to be used on a player I've not even tried yet. I feel like that's a bait'n switch. But I guess everyone's trying to cash in. Overall I am pleased with the look and feel and sound coming from this unit. - GO NOW!!!
OLYMPUS
Flash Memory MP3 Player - Olympus DM-1 Voice and MP3 Recorder with WOW! Technology Olympus DM-1 Voice and MP3 Recorder with WOW! Technology - Fine For Mac Users Too - Here's what you do to download music directly from iTunes on your Mac to the DM-1: First find a friend with a Windows computer. Then install (if it's not already) MusicMatch Jukebox (comes with the DM-1). Next, follow the enclosed instructions to download ONE or TWO songs from MusicMatch Jukebox onto your new SmartMedia card in the DM-1. Then you disconnect from Windows and go straight to the Mac, hooking the DM-1 to it using the provided USB adapter cable. Now, for some reason, the SmartMedia card is formatted in a way that lets you transfer MP-3 files directly (I also recommend spending twenty bucks on a SmartMedia card reader, for faster and easier transfers, but it's not necessary). You can change the mix as many times as you want, trashing existing songs and adding new ones at will. I've talked to Olympus about this, and they don't have an explanation, but it seems that once a SmartMedia card has received a couple of MP-3's from MusicMatch Jukebox via Windows, iTunes on the Mac (or any other Mac MP3 player) is perfectly good (in fact, superior for ease of use) for transferring. Just drag the names of the songs from the library onto the icon for the DM-1. End of subject. (Except for the fact that the voice-recording player that you can download from the Olympus website works quite well, too.) - GO NOW!!!

A mentally challenged person could figure this out it's so easy, but if you are going to buy this buy an extra card for recording because they dont hold very much. well, you should still buy this because instead of buying those expensive video camera, or mp3 players, or digital cameras it's all in one and VERY COOL. - GO NOW!!!
RCA
Flash Memory MP3 Player - RCA RD1000 Kazoo 32 MB MP3 Player [MP3 AUDIO] RCA RD1000 Kazoo 32 MB MP3 Player [MP3 AUDIO] - First Time MP3 User...LOVE IT!! - Just got this as a xmas gift and for a first timer as myself using an mp3 this by far was the simpliest and easiest thing to use. In a matter of an hour I downloaded the program and dowloaded 12 tracks worth 45 minutes of play using an additional 16mb media card. I have never fooled with an mp3 so it was just so pleasant. Now the sound from listening is amazing. It has 5 different sounds types from flat to bass, just depends how you want to hear your music. It has a great neck strap and wrist strap so that you can carry it with you everywhere and it's so lightweight you may forget you have this thing on you. Comes with the batteries (after 10 min though showed the life 1/3 down) and comes with a great plastic protector, and also very stylish loud headphones not to mention this unit is loud!! It is very simple, but highly effective. Also like the key lock feature so when wearing it if you press any of its buttons nothing is effected. It is just a cool mp3 starter, think you will be pleased! - GO NOW!!!
Flash Memory MP3 Player - RCA RD2201 Lyra 32 MB MP3 Player RCA RD2201 Lyra 32 MB MP3 Player - A Dream Come True - When my dad said that he found a cheap model of an mp3 player, I was hyped. Then, when we got to the store, I saw it, and well, it looked pretty bulkey& bad. then I saw all the other mp3 players, and thought they were way too smal!! Then, when I got home, I had a little troubble with the 1st and recomended program, but then tried the second, which is realjukebox, is so much better and faster. The sound is great, the donload time on my windows 98 is almost less than two min. You can expand the memory, and it has a back light. It fits right into your palm, and you won't be dissatisfied. I take it where ever i go, and it works good always. the batteries last at least 50 hrs, but i've only had it for almost three days. Trust me, if you get this, you won't be unhjappy for at least a year, :-P and i recomended it to alot of my friends, and they've loved it.

Flash Memory MP3 Player - RCA Lyra Audio/Video 20 GB Jukebox RCA Lyra Audio/Video 20 GB Jukebox - More To Come - This will not be a comprehensive review but rather a few points I do want to enter into the fray. I have a love/hate relationship with the RCA Lyra A/V Player. As a tech gadget lover (but not wealthy enough to buy many of them)I think this purchase will definitely give me more than my money's worth by the time it's all through. As such, it delivers on it's main functionality- video (most of which I have recorded off my TV thru the included RCA cables), audio (a nice mp3 collection) and photos. The thing I hate about it most at this moment is having to wait for new firmware releases, of which the Lyra is in need of. Battery life: I've consistently gotten 4 plus hours from the device, but I was told I'd get 12 hours audio and/or 4 hours video. I have yet to come close to the 12 hours of audio. Backlight: It doesn't turn on/off on the timer set like it's supposed to, ergo, I have to turn the backlight off in order for me to conserve battery, yet it still doesn't seem to conserve battery. Frustrating. Even with these qualms, I still stand by the product. It serves me well and I know this product will have a bright future. It's only on firmware 0.14.10, so the software engineers have a long way to go to make it as good as it can be. I look forward to seeing it's evolution into what I desire and expect out of my gadgets. - GO NOW!!!
Flash Memory MP3 Player - RCA Lyra 128 MB MP3 Player RCA Lyra 128 MB MP3 Player - Small Player, Big Memory - I got this mp3 player last month at July 4th. I was amazed when I bought it, it was better than I thought! It is so small that you will not feel uncomfortable when you put it in your pocket, with the MP3PRO encoder, I could hold more than 50 songs. One thing that's really cool is the DSPs which most of other players do not have, making the music better. There are 5 DSPs: Flat/Bass/Pop/Rock/Jazz. One thing that's really bad is the way they tell you how to use the Music Match Jukebox. They tell you the way that it seemed to be very simple but it made it even more difficult. After about 3 hours I had figure out that I could simply drag and drop like other folders. Then I went to Yosemite and brought the MP3 player along, since the trip takes about three hours, I listened to it for the whole trip and back, it still got half battery left! - GO NOW!!!
Flash Memory MP3 Player - RCA RD2840 Lyra 40 GB Personal Jukebox MP3 Player RCA RD2840 Lyra 40 GB Personal Jukebox MP3 Player - Bang For The Buck - To summarize: About $250, 40gb, it plays your tracks and sounds good. Not as small and sleek as an i-Pod, but cool in its own way. Battery life is good but drops when the unit is filled to capacity with music. It occasionally freezes up but sorts itself out without need for a reset. Many issues resolved by recent firmware update. Included car kit is thoughtful, but the car lighter power adapter is not shielded properly, resulting in a lot of noise. You will end up buying a proper adapter because of this, so RCA needn't have bothered (and perhaps could have cut the price further). That said, running on battery through the car stereo, it sounds fantastic. A big selling point is MP3Pro capabilities. This extends the storage capacity of the Lyra, because a 96k MP3Pro file sounds at least as good as a 128k MP3, but takes up 20-25 percent less space. However, RCA have only included trial software for encoding MP3Pro, so if you want to retain the capability expect to pony up some extra cash to do so. This is RCA/Thomson proprietary technology, they should include the full package when you buy their products. If you have just a small music library and want something to fit in your shirt pocket, go with a 10gb i-Pod in the similar price range, you will be happy with it. If you have 400+ CDs and want your digital music library at your finger tips, go with the Lyra. - GO NOW!!!
RIO
Flash Memory MP3 Player - Rio S10 64 MB MP3 Player Rio S10 64 MB MP3 Player - Good Quality For The Money, Upgradeable - Because the player is based on solid-state memory, it will never skip on bumps, etc., making it perfect for an active lifestyle. Initially, the player is upgradeable with MMC memory cards, but if you go to Sonic Blue's website and download and install a firmware upgrade, you can also use up to 512 MB SD cards. Because the memory is non-proprietary, it is readily found for roughly [money] per MB, unlike the memory backpacks on earlier Rio MP3 players. The construction is good, and the key layout is logical. Sonic Blue bought Rio, who bought Diamond, who made some of the first MP3 players, so they have a lot of experience under their belts. The sound quality is good at 64 kbps on this player and superb at 128 kbps or more. I can't hear any background noise or hiss due to the player. Sounds are very clear, esp. if you use your own headphones. Because there are no moving parts, you won't hear background noise from spinning motors (such as in a CD player) either. Linux users can also get some limited compatability by using rioutils, which you can find at sourceforge. All in all, I'm very happy with this player! - GO NOW!!!
Flash Memory MP3 Player - Rio S30S Sport 64 MB MP3 Player Rio S30S Sport 64 MB MP3 Player - Inexpensive, Yet Simple To Use - Been looking to get a cheap MP3 player for some time, but was always turned off by how limited they were for expansion. Then I found the S30S. What truly stands out is the ability to use and swap out MMC and SD cards, not to mention this thing is more cross platform friendly than other MP3 players that cost twice as much. It automatically appears in iTunes as two directories. One for the built in 64 megs, and one for the MMC/SD card slot. I know a lot of people don't care about Mac support, but if you do, this little device works great. Also noticed that it automatically synced it's internal clock with my desktop...little things like that show that a lot of thought went into design. Pros...expandable, easy to use, light weight, good display, built in FM tuner (which works fine for me), cross platform friendly. Cons...slow file transfer (compared to firewire or USB 2 that is), short battery life (buy some NiMH batteries) - GO NOW!!!
Flash Memory MP3 Player - Rio Cali 128 MB Sport MP3 Player Rio Cali 128 MB Sport MP3 Player - Great MP3 Player - Hi. I bought my Rio Cali 128 mb about 3 weeks ago, and it is great! It is my first mp3 player, but I've done loads of research on them, and this is great! Read these: It's got rubber on it, so it won't break! I've dropped it on comcrete, and not even a scratch! The Rio Joystick is sweet! not neccessary, but i love it. The LCD display is great, you can clearly see what the song is, the artist, what cd it's from, the date and time, and many other things in one glance. (another great thing is you don't have to title the song, when u load it onto your mp3 player, it displays it without u doing anything) The included FM tuner is great! sometimes it is staticy, but i'm pretty sure it uses the headphones as the antennae (dont ask me how), and when I bought a good pair of headphones, I got great reception...so buy another pair of 'phones. really light! less than 2 ounces WITH the AAA battery in it! speaking of batteries, the AAA battery last up to 18 hours...amazing The software's pretty good. If you dont have Windows 98se or up (i have Windows 98 ), don't worry, it comes with RealOne player, which works on lower versions. You have to have Mac OS X for macs...but if you don't, on the iTunes cd (included) it has an installer for Mac OS X. The included case is great! It is plastic, but fits very snugly on the mp3 player. I dropped it on concrete, and it didnt come off. i hope this helped you on your quest to get an mp3 player, and i hope u get this one! (none of the times i dropped the mp3 player were on purpose) - GO NOW!!!

Flash Memory MP3 Player - Rio One Digital Audio Player (MP3/WMA) [MP3 AUDIO] Rio One Digital Audio Player (MP3/WMA) [MP3 AUDIO] - 4 Mths Of Non-Stop Use Prove Its A Stable Beginning Player! - I bought the Rio One about 4 months ago, and I have yet to be disappointed. I was tired of my CD player skipping when I went walking or exercising. I use the player every single day. For being a college student, this unit was affordable; however, I did have to buy an expandable disk. I would say that is the only real disappointment I found with this product. Without the disk, I can only program about 6 songs at once. I did notice the buzzing sound that everyone is talking about, but now I rarely notice. I have never had a serious problem using the software, and my installation was a breeze. I think both the software and player are easy to use. While it doesn't have a fancy screen, I wasn't interested in something high-tech, expensive and fragile. If it breaks, I will not have to worry about how I am going to pay for a new player. Also, I am a klutz, and I have accidentally dropped this player on the ground at least half a dozen times. Nothing more than the battery door opening has ever happened (knock on wood). Believe me, if you give this product a chance, it will be well worth the money for a practical user. - GO NOW!!!
SAMSUNG
Flash Memory MP3 Player - Samsung Mini Yepp 32 MB MP3 Player YP-20T Samsung Mini Yepp 32 MB MP3 Player YP-20T - Conquering The Battery Problem - I just pulled my mini Yepp out of the packaging yesterday and couldn't believe how small this thing is. The sound quality is excellent. The memory is a limitation as others have noted. I took it apart and found that they have an extra set of pads on the board right next to the existing NAND Flash - its all hooked up and ready to be populated. I think I heard they have a 64mB version out now (maybe I'll try upgrading mine?). The battery life is also a bit of a limitation, but since it only burns one battery at a time, its not too bad. I measured the current at 175mA with the volume cranked all the way up. That's around 1/4 Watt which seems OK, but it's a lot of current to draw from an alkaline battery (they aren't very efficient in high current applications). I'm using rechargeable NiMh batteries in mine and they last about 2.5-3 hours. These are good NiMh batteries from Maha\Powerex (650mAh AAA) which I bought for about $2.50 per cell. I also bought a good rapid charger for them. Using these batteries, the cost of music is less than a penny an hour compared with about $.25/hr using alkaline batteries. - GO NOW!!!

SONIC BLUE
Flash Memory MP3 Player Review - Sonic Blue MP3 Player (psa play 60) Sonic Blue MP3 Player (psa play 60) - Like It So Much, My Family Has Four - I bough two of these last winter dirt cheap for my brother and me. We both got them working with no problems, though I did have to update the firmware when I added a MMC card. My brother lost his, and bought another, and I've bought another RioSport so my husband can have the now discontinued PSAPlay 60. Granted, the software is quirky, and the MMC card can slide out of place so that it's not recognized. The battery does drain and must be changed frequently. The clip mechanism is kind of flimsy. However, this is a vast improvement from the last dirt-cheap MP3 player I bought (and could never get to work as promised), and it gets hard, hard use every day. I love it! - GO NOW!!!

It light weight, intuitive to use, and has a great arm band. For athletic purposes you can't ask for much more. - GO NOW!!!
